Deleting your Bingether account

Updated 25 August 2026

This page explains how to erase your account and what that takes with it. It exists so you can do it even without the app to hand.

From the app, in two taps#

This is the fastest route, and it is immediate.

  1. Open Bingether, go to Settings.
  2. Tap Delete my account, then confirm.

Deletion is instant. There is no delay, no queue, and no request to file.

Export before you delete. The same screen offers Export everything: you get a readable file containing your entire history. It is free. Once the account is deleted, nothing is recoverable.

Without the app#

Write to contact@bingether.app from the email address linked to your account, with the subject "Account deletion".

We check that the address is yours, then delete. You will hear back within thirty days at the latest, and in practice well before.

What is deleted#

Everything about you:

  • your email address and sign-in identifier;
  • your display name, language and colour;
  • the shows and films you follow, and every episode marked watched;
  • your household memberships;
  • the invitations you sent;
  • your notification tokens;
  • your current subscription entitlement, if you have one.

What is not deleted, and why#

Households where other people are members. If you created a household where someone else is still present, the household does not go with you: ownership passes to the longest-standing member. Deleting your account must not erase other people's history. If you are alone in your household, it goes with you.

Episodes you marked on someone else's behalf. When you watch a show together, marking an episode marks it for both of you. Those records stay with the other person, because that is their history. They no longer say it was you.

Your purchase identifier, if you made one. It is kept, and it is detached from you: not your account, not your email, not your household. It does not say who you were or what you watched. It serves three purposes and nothing else: handling a refund that arrives after you leave, answering you if you write to say you paid, and preventing one purchase from unlocking new accounts indefinitely. It is also what makes your lifetime purchase claimable on a new account.

Your subscription, if you have one#

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. These are two separate things, handled by two different parties.

  • On iPhone: iOS Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
  • On Android: Play Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions.

Until you do it there, the charge continues.

If you had bought lifetime access, it becomes claimable again after deletion: you will be able to restore it on a new account.
